ELEGANT – TIMELESS – PASSIONATE – ROMANTIC & THE ULTIMATE SYMBOL OF LOVE!
In 1969 the Cartier LOVE bracelet was born. Worn by many of the most recognisable celebrities in the world, it is a symbol of true love between two people. With such a stunning and unique collection, their range of love jewellery is renowned throughout the world. It has a great demand and a positive resale value within the second hand market today, with a starting price around £4,000 up to a staggering £40,000.
It all began way back in 1969 with Cartier's designer Aldo Cipullo for Cartier SA. In 2006 it was revealed to be the most successful collection in Cartier's history, and who knows what may rival this as possibly the next famous Cartier collection? Having bought and sold numerous Cartier bracelets over the past 10+ years, it is certainly agreeable to me. Whether it be white gold, yellow gold, Platinum, 1/2 diamond or full diamond bracelets, some with original boxes and certificates, I have found this Cartier range to be my best selling product to date, which can be found via our retail and online business, UK Watch and Jewels.
Cartier's Aldo Cipullo inspiration came from the medieval times when chastity belts were worn by women to protect their virtue and good name. Similar to a chastity belt, it locks around the wrist and can only be removed with a specialist screwdriver. For a while Cartier came up with a policy, that no customer could buy a LOVE bracelet for themselves. Rather, it would have to be purchased as a couple.
This is one of the most copied pieces of iconic jewellery in the world to date, so please be aware of copies & fakes! The internet has many websites offering you a gold, pink, white gold or a diamond set Cartier love bracelet at an "unbelievable price", but please remember the old adage, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
During the 70s, his-and-hers bracelets were presented to famous couples, like The Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Many celebrities were photographed wearing the sleek gold band, which led to the LOVE bracelet becoming an instant hit.
Today there are a whole host of famous faces, including models, actors and actresses wearing the Cartier Love Bracelet, including Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Anniston and Eva Mendes.
The original LOVE bracelets were gold plated, but as time went on and demand grew, they started creating solid gold bracelets, and in 1979, a diamond-studded version was introduced.
Today, Cartier continues to produce this iconic symbol of love, not only in the form of the original bracelet, but also in rings, cuff links, and earrings. Some of the items do not require a screwdriver, but still have the emblematic LΘVE design.
Although it was first introduced as a symbol of love, today it can be gifted for many reasons: coming-of-age, graduation, or even as a gift to yourself. The LOVE bracelet’s design is famous enough to be considered a modern icon. It is an every day piece of stunning jewellery that can be worn with a casual t-shirt and jeans or a stunning dress or suave suit.
It’s been more than 40 years since its introduction, but the Cartier LOVE bracelet has remained relevant in the luxury new and pre-owned market to this day, and doesn't have any plans to take a step back any time soon.
